A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, idea, or feeling. It is one of the fundamental parts of speech in the English language.

Types of Nouns
1. Proper Nouns
These are specific names of people, places, or organizations. They always begin with a capital letter.

2. Common Nouns
These refer to general items rather than specific ones.

3. Concrete Nouns

5. Countable Nouns

7. Collective Nouns
These represent a group of people, animals, or things as a single entity.

8. Possessive Nouns
These show ownership or possession.

Functions of Nouns in Sentences
Subject of a Sentence:
The dog barks loudly.
Object of a Verb:
She bought a new dress.
Object of a Preposition:
He sat on the chair.
Possession:
Lisa’s car is blue.
